The M3 needs its unicorn blood oil changed as well as a brake flush. Anyone know of a third party BMW shop in or around Greenville SC?

Good luck - not many BMW shops around a southern city like Greenville-Spartanburg, lol.
I just pinged someone I know in that area that drives a BMW, will let you know if he has any suggestions.

Have them replace the throttle position actuator. It’s only a matter of time.

Is the s65 a dry sump system?

Half of the cars in GSP area are BMW’s (X3's, but still) because of the plant, so there probably is one somewhere.

Haha - we have an office in Greenville, and a plant in Spartanburg. I’ve spent some time there, and believe me, I was joking - seems like half the cars in town are BMW’s, but I always see a lot more than just the X cars.

Just take it to the factory. Surely they can help.

I’m on a car page with a bunch of people from GSP, and I relayed the question.

OK, so my co-worker uses Beamer Specialist, on Pete Hollis Blvd. He’s been real happy with him. Here’s his quote:
The owner worked for BMW for years and likes to spend capital, meaning he has most of the same tools and electronics as the dealership to work the same way they would. At half the price.
Of course, the online reviews are a little more iffy— but he’s been using these guys for a while.

They only deal in crossovers :(

They have M crossovers though!

None have a naturally aspirated engine.

I hate to be that guy, but DIY? That’s quality time with your automobile!

Thanks, I’ll read some reviews and check it out.

Believe it’s a wet sump.

A specialist that uses the wrong “Bimmer”.

If I had a place and all the tools then yes. It’s also not that much more to take it somewhere. I think alone the oil is ~$150.

Today’s dose of irony: the guy who works in oil fields doesn’t have the tools to change the oil on his car.

I always did them (oil changes) in the parking lot of my apartment complex using ramps. Are they that finicky that you can’t substitute German Castrol or Mobil 1 for the oil?
Brakes are a little more time consuming, but not bad. I also used to DIY them at the apartment. Thankfully my neighbors were cool and management wasn’t around much on weekends!

10W-60 isn’t cheap, and that’s one thing I’m not going to be cheap with, especially with some of the rod bearing issues.

Funny thing is that his website goes back and forth between Beamer and Bimmer.

Good luck!

Id say buy some tools and diy. Tools are never a bad investment.

If you are willing to drive an hour away for this there is a shop in SC called Bimmer Performance Center. According to forums, they are the know their shit with BMs.
Check out their website, they do all sorts of daunting jobs.

Greenville, SC? Contact these guys:
Dave is a great guy. We were friends for a long time, but had a falling out. Even so, I‘d totally recommend you get to know him.
